Pushing Up Lilies is proud to be part of North Texas Overdose Awareness Day. Join us Monday, August 31 at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Denton County Courthouse on the Square for an evening focused on remembrance, awareness, education, and action. This free community event will include speakers, resource tables, music, and a memorial honoring lives lost to overdose. Stop by the Pushing Up Lilies table and say hello. I’ll be there sharing information about the podcast, talking about the importance of telling these stories, and supporting a cause that affects so many families in our community.
This year, Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival will be bigger and better than ever! Join me at my booth on October 24, 2026, and enjoy a whole weekend of community, candy, and celebration. This multicultural, family-friendly event is located in downtown Denton, Texas with Friday events, our normal full day on Saturday, and more Cirque Du Horror on Sunday! Denton’s at Day of the Dead festival is a staple of the community, bringing a culturally inclusive and family-focused event to our historic city. From humble beginnings in 2009 with the inaugural performances of Cirque du Horror to the first festival in 2011, we’ve grown to include E. Hickory and E. Oak Streets as well. Now, festival-goers enjoy great local food & drink, arts & crafts, live music and folk dancing, along with our signature events! Incorporating elements from Día de Muertos, Halloween, and other Fall traditions, Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival embraces the richness of our community fabric like nothing else.
